Sterilization Q&A

PART 01: Material Specification

  • Medical Dialysis Paper  - Available in standard system paper and high-temperature self-adhesive types. - Specifications: Common weights are 60g/m² and 70g/m².
  • Film Construction - CPP/PE Layer: Ranging from 38µm to 40µm thickness. - Total composite thickness: Approximately 50µm - 52µm.

PART 02: Common Issues

Abnormal phenomena during the sterilization process of self-sealing pouches:

  • Bursting 1. Overloading: Placing too many items in the steam sterilizer prevents proper pressure release during vacuum stages, leading to bursting. 2. Improper Placement: Pouches placed directly against the chamber wall can be damaged by high-temperature contact. 3. Contamination: Residual oil/lubricants on instruments can reach extremely high temperatures when heated, causing the film to melt and burst.
  • Seal and Indicator Performance - Puncture Damage: Sharp instruments without protective tips can easily pierce the film. - Indicator Abnormalities: Incomplete or unclear color changes in the chemical indicator strips.

PART 03: Recommendations for Use

  • Avoid overloading the sterilizer chamber to ensure balanced internal pressure.
  • Maintain adequate distance between pouches and the chamber walls or areas with condensate.
  • Ensure sealing equipment operates at consistent temperature and pressure settings.
  • Mandatory use of protective tips or guards for all sharp surgical instruments.
  • Store pouches in a strictly clean and dry environment.
  • Always inspect indicator color changes and seal integrity before use.
  • Maintain at least a 2.5cm safety margin between the instrument and the seal edges.
